I'm really wanting to get a 7 or a 9 but I can't decide on which I want(probably the 7) so the thing I need from you guys is to tell me the blade hight for both of them. I think they are the same but I want to make sure because I can't find that info anywhere.

They are not. The 9 is considerably taller, hence why it is a better chopper. I don't know the exact size right off, but the 9 comes to the bottom of the handle guard and the 7 doesn't. There is a picture floating around here somewhere. I think Dex posted it, or maybe Wayne. Not sure.

That's all I really needed to know. I think Ill go with the 9 then. I am going to mod it to a 6in blade and give it a full flat grind anyway so the length really doesn't matter. the wider the blade, the more comfortable it is to me.

Strange, the blade height is not listed in the database. Someone needs to get out their micrometers.

I have neither a 7 or a 9 but there are pics in the database. All large Beckers (2,4,5,7,9,10) have the same handles which measure about 43mm or 1.7" at the blade.
From the pics, the 7's blade edge is just short of the handle, so it's about 1.5".
And the 9's extends down about another .25", so it's about 1.95".

for all that work, you might as well start from scratch and make the knife you want!
(and buy a 9 and leave it stock for comparison)

Get two. One to modify, and one to continually compare it to and keep. It's called "The King" for a reason.

And post pics of before, during and after!

A 6" blade that thick and heavy isn't going to perform very well at much of anything. Too short for the leverage required for chopping, too clumsy for delicate work... sort of the worst of all possible worlds.

It will certainly be sturdy, though.

I had a Swamp Rat Rodent 6 and that knife was thicker than a BK9 and was one of my favorite knives I have ever owned. That's the whole point of me doing the mods, to make the Rodent 6 profile but have a Becker handle.
