I have an AK-47 bayonet manufactured in Russia it appears to be manufactured around 1947 at least based on the style. I am looking to find out what it is worth and where I can get the most for it as I am gathering funds for an engagement and wedding.

Here's the pictures:

Anything you can tell me about it, or who I can talk to about it I'd greatly appreciate it.

Bought one a couple weeks ago at a gun show for $10. Guy had over a hundred of them. They were not selling very well. A little work on a grinder made an nice sharp and very usable blade. Not sure if they are bringing any more than that. Good luck.

You've got an AKM Type 1 bayonet produced from 1959 to about 1968. But it's missing the non-conductive rubber insulator on the sheath. I looked around on the internet for about an hour, I was curious myself. Looks like they go for between $10 -$25 USED depending on what shape they are in.

Bought a similar one from a tv knife show at a discounted $4 and purchased some other knives with a free shipping special that night. It also came with the rubber.

Their website is selling them for $8 plus s&h.

Guess I can't name the company but initials start with SM..

I recently got a couple of those things chemically analyzed by Brad at Peters Heat Treat. They are just awesome to do business with.

They looked like they could be made out of something similar to L2. Probably around .5-.7 Carbon. Consistently .25 Vanadium. Around .5 Chrome. Mn is something like .3-.5. It's not a bad piece of steel that the thing is made out of. I want to screw around with re-hardening one of them...
