:
Why thank you Ice!
I am honored to be thought so highly of.
Between the two I would choose the Gelbu Special for just an all around knife. Will says to throw in the 18" WW II and I don't know about that one.I do have the Hanuman Special with the WW II blade.
It is almost like the GS except the GS is a bit heavier(read thicker at spine) and has that beautiful forged fuller which is gonna make it incredibley strong for it's weight.
The GS and 15" AK are about the same weight at 1 1/2 Lbs.
They chop about the same. The big thing is with the AK it ain't ever gonna bend, but I think you could just about run a tank over the GS and it would still work, except maybe the handle.
I also like the extra reach of the GS.Mine is 19" overall.
Now I do have to add that there is no way to compare it to my 18"AK.
That knife RULES when it comes to brute force and holding an edge.
Mine is a tad on the hard side along the sweet spot of the edge, but I know that and prefer it be that way.
If I were in an emergency or survival situation where it would get severe use over a short period of time it would quickly chip/wear away to the proper hardness.
The way it is now I can be a little more careful where and how I use it and place my cuts with accuracy I can enjoy the benefits of a super sharp blade. It may not work for someone unfamiliar with a harder edge and/or big knives.
I hope that answers your question like you wanted.
