hey guys. a friend of mine is looking to get a Leek sometime in the future. he is looking at the 1660CKT

what is the cheapest place to get this knife, or Leeks in general? the cheapest i know of is about $40 at my local shop. he's wanting to spend in the $30-$40 range if at all possible. any suggestions that i may forward to him?

amazon.com...plenty of online shops, but shipping is the killer. Walmart has them (in my area at least). Congrats on gold membership!

$40 is gonna be hard since that is almost at wholesale level.
Anyone selling it for that will probably bloat shipping to make up
for it. It only retails for $79.95, right?

something like that. i'll check amazon and see what i can find. i'll call my local shop tomorow and see what they say, but im pretty sure its around $40 there

Try searching Kershaw 1660CKT at froogle.com (google's product search).
That should get you close to the price, toughest part will be shipping.

I tried the Froogle thing.

One place showed it for $40.26 but when you open their site it says $41.45. Shipping was $7.95. I don't know them though.

The next place showed $41.62 then I checked shipping $11.11 UPS Ground.
Then I got mad.
I'm not naming who they are but will quote a section of their shipping policy.
"XXXXX XXXXX ships all items via UPS and our shipping rates are calculated in real time based on
the most up-to-date information obtained direct from the UPS web site."

Sorry, but I ship packages out all day using UPS and a 1lb package to anywhere in the US
is about $6-$9 for a Residential delivery. Commercial addys are cheaper.
There are a few extreme places in New York and Cali but I entered
Austin, TX. Charging $5 extra for a box and packing is a rip.

The third place's page at $41.62 wouldn't load. Oh well.
The fourth place showed the blade to be 440. Old stock, no thanks.
A few more searches ended with $7 to $13 shipping and a starting price of $42-$45.

Maybe you could loan him a few bucks and he could get it locally? :D

good luck!

40.00 is a great price, especially if you can just pick it up in a local store. I wish Walmart sold the plain edged Leeks and Storms.

I've never understood why wallly world only sells the combo edge.
You know if they sold the plain edge as well there sells on that
knife would be a lot higher.

I've had great luck buying from gunshows here in Texas.Usually on sundays late afternoon right befor close and CASH only.:)

A local sporting goods store is currently having a sale on Leeks for 24.99.

Yeah, you aren't going to find a deal like that anywhere else. :)

Be careful what you say. This is not a buy/sale forum. You can get in trouble.
Email or something to that nature.

FYI :)
