Hi All,
I'm not new to Bladeforums, but this is the first timeI've posted in this forum. I sure could use your expertise. Today I bought a Schrade Uncle Henry folding Bowie, serial 227UH. I know this knife was made between 1973-82 (I think). The workmanship, fit, and finish of this knife is superb. It has stagalon jigged scales with a fancy shield which is engraved with Uncle Henry in fancy script lettering, and both blades have an excellent satin finish. The knife is new, or anyway, like new. It came in a leather carry with Schrade stamped on it, set against a blacksmith type figure with a raised hammer. Aside from the serial number, which is on the unmarked side of the blade, the stamp says "Uncle Henry" in fancy script. Below that it says "SCHRADE" in plain caps. There is nothing on the blade that says "made in America'. So, do I have a real Schrade, a fake, or a later version? Oh, and I paid $30.00 for it today in a pawn shop, and I'm quite happy with the knife, but it would be nice to know it's a real Schrade. Thanks,
Dave
