got a bit adventouras the otherday, an used a product called,
super lube.its made by synco. multi purpose sythnthetic lubricant with syncolon.??
it sprays on wet, then you wave it around a bit, the khuk that is,
an it penetrates an drys in about 40-60 secs put the khuk to one side did the same to karda + chakma, then decided to give the inside of the scabbard a good spray.
  :)
sure makes the khuk slide in an out nice an smooth. i will let yous know how it goes in use, and how its anti rusting is. regards ghorka:)

the following is a list of its claims.
safe to use on anything that slides swivels, rolls ,or squeeks ect.
withstands temperatures between -45 deg f t0 450deg f or 232 celsius. only gets to about 50-60 celsius here??
[might have to sit in the oven with the khuk an see what happens] hee hee
:) :) :)
forms a nontoxic anti corrosive shield that prevents rust and is completly impervious to saltwater,
and is usda h2 authorised for use in federal meat and poultry plants.
also compatible with most other lubricants.
so sounds good to me i will be givein it a tryout[ be a guiny pig] an let you know.

yep it certainly is interestin stuff, i got my can 170g from the local motor accessoriy shop, cost about $10 aus so about $5 usa
i was pretty generous spraying it on,it comes out in a continuos fine stream, rather than a spray, but is fantastic for sprayin into the scabbard, takes a bit of gettin used to, to apply, just cover the blade one side holding khuk so its flat, wait about 10-15 seconds, turn blade spray other side, then begin sorta flippin it side to side to create a bit of wind to help dry and to make it keep running evenly on the blade till its dry, approx 1-2 mins then stand it up with the handle resting against the wall an the point only touching the ground. then do the same to karda and chakma, then spray the inside of the scabbard leave overnight then resheath and bingo. reckon would be enuff in can to do maybee 4-5 khuks easy.as i said so far looks good, and makes for a nice smooth draw from scabbard. field test will be interestin,i am going to tasmania in 4 weeks time to our 2 farms there each is approx 18acres 36 acres total, taking at least three khuks, am hoping my new chitlangi will be here by then, will give them all a great test. my son 22 loves khuks,in fact he loves any thing with a blade, thinks he"s a ninja hee heee.he is great fun to be with.wife will be to ,shes not so keen on blades. we will be lineing a wood cabin out while we are there. should be a great time. regards ghorka:)

I first used Super Lube (now Super Lube 2000) on a cable-driven Dremel tool. With their own lube, it would heat up every 15-20 minutes to the point where it was uncomfortable to hold. I disassembled the thing, cleaned out the old lube, and sprayed both the cable and the inside of the housing with the SL, and have not had to re-lube it since. I've run it for 30 minute periods without having any overheating problems, so their claims as a high-speed lube are valid to that extent, and the film obviously holds up well. I started coating the slide rails of my autos with it, then the blued guns, and then the blades, and it seems to be a good rust preventive in addition. A SIG 220 carried IWB in hot, sticky weather has shown no signs of rust for two years of such treatment. Locally, it is available at WalMart, and a couple of hardware stores.

good stuff, looks like i might have lucked on to a good product antirust for khuks, your useage seems to confirm there claims.i will soon find out what happens on khuks,as i have applied to two khuks for use in tasmania trip in 4 weeks.regards ghorka:)

clove oil has always worked well for me... put a dot of it (thats all you need) on a clean, dry cloth, and rub it into both sides of the blade... wave it to air dry and youre all set... completely non toxic, and it smells nice too... dont use too much of it though, or it can stain your blade... i have stored my blades for extended periods of time here in nebraska (and it gets really humid here) with no problems whatsoever...

is that the same stuff you put on sore teeth ect ??.
thats interestin to know thanks:)

that would be, yes... you have to make sure you get the pure stuff, though... cant have any h2o in it...

Get a 2 oz bottle of clove oil at the pharmacy and add 1/2 to 1 oz to a 6 oz bottle of Kama Sutra Pleasure Garden aromatic massage oil. I've done that for years now and straight clove oil can stain steel eventually, but mixed with the massage oil I've had no problem. Does well on leather too.

And it has to be up there with the best smells in the world, like waking to the smell of fresh coffee, bacon, and biscuits in the morning.

sounds great rusty i"ll try that:)

sounds yummy all those nice smells, might cut my gums on the khuk enjoyin the taste though, so will try your recipe on the little penknife.he he:) :)

Sigh: I keep telling them that the more outlandish and rediculous the story I tell, the more likely it is to be God's own truth. They never believe me.

So you should see them when they find out I always tell the truth all along! It's my perverted pleasure to lead them on wild goose chases only to find out that the catch is I was telling the truth.:D :D :D :D :D

What can I say, Bruise? I'm an impassioned guy, easily aroused to make love or to make war, living life to the hilt either way ( so to speak ).

I never knew you could use clove oil on blades. I got to use plenty of it about 6 months back though, when I got both front teeth broken in a hockey game. It does work pretty well for that, though. ;)

anyone here know why and how it works to prevent rust???? clove oil i mean.:)

Originaly mixed with mineral oil to use in caring for katana and othe weapons. Go to places like Bugei.com and they'll sell you Choji oil and rice paper.
