Question, is 303 stainless liners compatible with 416 stainless bolsters?

I have some 416 ss for bolsters, but locally I can get 303 stainless for liners in a slip joint.

If silver soldered is there any compatibility problem?

idk about silver soldering but I have used Loctite 324 many times and I would say it feels like it's impossible to break that bond in normal use.

303 is a little more difficult to solder and will be more yellow in color but I doubt anyone will notice.

As Hoss said the color difference from bolster to liner you probably won't notice, but a 303 pin sticks out like a sore thumb in a 416 bolster. Don't ask how I know:mad:
