I have had the SRK now for several years and love it for the bush. I am an instructor that teaches Map compass and survival for the state that I live in, and only use the SRK or the mora if I want to get something smaller. The reason that I like the knife is its profile is very sturdy. I can dig with ease in the dirt, and also dig out logs for grubs, and insects. It has a second bevel at the top that I sharpen just for mag. firestarters.(not to screw up the cutting edge). On its sheath I hang a mag. block from the leg ti down hole, and then wrap the sheath in 20 feet of para cord. on top of that is a course DMT stone covered by a bike tire tube piece (ie ranger band also used in fire starting.)
Listen there are lots of people that slam Cold steel, it seems to be the in thing since no one likes Lynns adds, but he does market good stuff.
Back to the blade. I have jammed the blade into rock cracks to get up higher to collect moss and at 250 lbs. thats a lot of strain. There are other knives out there that can also take the abuse/ but the SRK works for me.
Dont let some people cloud your decision including me, just get what works for you.
P.S. Someone in this thread is bound to say that the warrenty sucks from CS, I have an example if ya want it on how the company goes out of the way to keep people happy.
