My uncle who is an avid "pawn shopper" picked up a Schrade 8ot from a shop somewhere recently, and decided to give it to me. The main blade had been sanded a bit, and was pitted, the spey blade, and sheepsfoot blade, where very shiny, I decided to force a patina on the clip point blade, and put it in some vinegar to hopefully hide the sanding scratches, anyhow, I decided to kill two birds with one stone, and opened the sheepsfoot blade too, to see if it would make it darker, and noticed while the clip point blade was dark as black, the sheepsfoot blade remained the same. Did Schrade put Carbon and Schrade + blades in the same knife ? I kind of suspected this, and did this as sort of a test, but though you guys would no for certain. If somebody sent in a knife for repair, would they replace the blades, with non-matching blades, or was this somebody's expedient repair ? I can't tell if it's been repaired.

Schrade frequently did mix-and-match blades over the years. You'll find OT blades on UH handles, SC blades on OT handles, and some completely random Frankenknives. Many of these date to the final weeks of production at the Imperial-Schrade factory, but many older examples exist too. Yours isn't the first that's been reported with a mixture of carbon and stainless steel blades. :)

Thanks, I'm a noob with these old Schrades, I have a few of them, but have neglected to learn much about them. I'll try and do some reading. I think it's cool personally, I'm just going to sharpen it up and carry it. The blades hadn't been sharpened, and are terribly dull, it has a lot of life left in it.

Not much else you can do with it. You're about ten years too late to return it to the factory. :D

LOL ^^^, I really am enthused about collecting Schrades, you can still afford to buy the older ones locally, unlike older Cases. Hard to imagine they've been out of business for 10 years. Schrade 1095 is very good, some of my favorite actually, and I have no beef with Schrade +.
