For those of you that have put the 560 to work for a long time, do you recommend carbidizing the framelock?

I'm planning on anodizing the framelock side on one of my 560s and really making it a user.

They come carbidized. Be careful if you flame anodize the ti cause you can cause the detent hole in the lockbar to expand enough for the detent ball to fall out if you heat it up too much.

As stated it is already carbidized. Remember though if you screw up the lock up etc... it won't be covered by warranty anymore. Mod with caution.

What color you shooting for? Just a suggestion, if your going to have it anodized with the electronic method the diamond pattern on the handle is great for doing contrasting colors. Think of their blackwash look but with blue and green, or blue and purple. The way they would do it is do the whole knife in the higher voltage color and then take a nail buffing block and sand back the peaks so that only the highest points get sanded leaving the color in the valleys. Then after they sand the high points exposing the raw titanium again they dip it another time only at a lower voltage. The original color will stay the same but the high points will fill in with a different color creating really nice contrast. blue valleys with pale straw peaks looks really nice. Just a thought.

If its already carbidized then ill leave that alone and just electro anodize it.
That won't change the lockup.
The other stuff I want to do is acid wash the blade a dark dark color and stone wash.
The steel like the same way except heat anodize it a dark bronze the. Stone wash that.
I did that to the clip and lbs already

Not sure what scale to go with for the fallout look. Two scales are made by kryptoglow. The other 3 silver/blk, green/blk, and camo all in the same pattern I made.

That's a good suggestion. Inwas thinking of that too.

I was thinking of doing the valleys in a deep dark bronze and the peaks a deep purple.

I have my doubts that they're very effectively carbidized. I've flipped mine about the same amount as my Southard (which is not cabidized but heat treated) and the ZT lock is *much more worn*. When I took it apart recently to clean it there was an actual buildup of powdered material on the inside of the lock face that had worn off and was deposited there. Since I have already sent this knife to ZT once I'm not going to send it again. I think I'll contact a friend of mine who carbidizes and have him do it.

[I realize this is bound to irritate someone at ZT, but I'm just relating my experience. Whatever you did to carbidize this knife, it didn't work very well.]

Have you ever thought it might just be yours? Anomalies do happen. I haven't had any trouble with the few I have owned from early serial numbers up to later serial numbers. I used and flipped open all of them so far except one. I had no troubles, not saying they don't happen but I would not assume because mine and maybe a couple others had them that every one leaving the factory does. I've heard more success stories than horror stories. Hope you get yours sorted out.

To really make it a user, I would just use it. I've had mine for a little over a year and it is just as good as when I got it. I've used it in the yard pruning branches, cutting dirt covered plastic planters, cutting sand covered rope and tons of cardboard. I usually flip it several times whenever i take it out of my pocket at the end of the day, probably totaling a few thousand times. I've even dropped it hard enough on concrete to chip the g10 scale. Lockup hasn't moved from 60%, no sticky lock and no lock rock.
