Hi guys, I'm not really a Buck collector so I thought you guys may be able to help me out. A friend of mine wants to know the value of the Buck Knives he has...he said one or two of them might be 124s which are worth something these days (it's relative, isn't it).

Any idea on the value of each of the Buck Knives in the pic - what model(s) are they?

thanks...

ps: I know the one on the right is a Spydie police:p ...I know my Spydercos better, lol...

Spyken,

Yes you have two 124 Frontiersman and a 619 Woodsmate.
All three are discontinued with the 70's era black micarta (Buckarta) 124 being the most collectable. Actually 1982 was the last year of production for the Buckarta knife. Your other knife has impregnated birchwood stained to look like rosewood. It is first listed in 1983 and was nearly half the suggested retail at $47. Its still very collectable.

Your Woodsmate is a variant of the 119 Special but with the Kraton handle. Last listed in a Dealer Cat/Price list was 1997 with a suggested retail price of $58.

I think (just my opinion) your 124's MIB are worth $150 to $200 with the micarta knife at that upper range and the rosewood at the lower range.

The 619 is well not that collectable and an auction with it seems to be all over the place depending if there are motivated bidders of course. IMO in mint condition it a $50-$70 tops.

The pricing is of course just my opinion. Do some research on FleaBay.

I'll bet you get some emails on the 124's... :p

The second one clearly shows the pommel pins, if there is a mangler in the audience waiting to replace his 124 Micarta with stag...

many thanks guys...I'll let my friend know. he got them when he was a kid, and was wondering if they had any resale value..I told him the best way to find out was on the buck forums as the only buck I've ever handled was the 110...

thank you spyken. yup i am the owner of those knives.

1. how do i take care of the knife ? (the pins or rivet are oxidizing)

2. i letting go of those batch of knives that i collected 10 over years so how is the suggested price to let them go?

a light buff with mag wheel polish should work..
as to selling them ..
you could get emails from here if you set up your account to do so
value on ebay..
well that is a up and down thing
i am more consertive then flat on what they will bring
no box or paper work the micarta black one will likely bring 125 to 175
the red wood one 125 to 150
on a good day with several desireing bidders either could top
flats estimate..
me i am a cheep low balling bottom feeder..

Awesome, I think I have one of those 124 Frontiersman, too:

I am disappointed it is not real rosewood, though.

Although I have one of the black Micarta 124's, I think the impregnated wood (whichever it is) looks better...

I have to add that the grip rivets (but not the pommel rivets) are showing oxidation...very strange... :(

Mine has been in its box ever since I got it in 1987, so no oxidation. I do wipe the hardware after handling it, though.

from chemicals in the leather sheath maybe?

I don't store my knives in the sheaths...and I don't have a 124 sheath anyway... :)

Mine are in a desk drawer in my computer room...right under the loaded Luger... :D

It's the only knife I have with aluminum rivets...I'll see if Nevr-Dull will remove it...
