I just bought the 140OT Trail Boss. Does anyone know if that green handle is made of Kraton or if not what type of rubber is it? Also is the blade 420hc or 440A steel. If it is 420 hc I hope they heat treate them as well as Buck.

The handles were TPR (Thermoplastic rubber). They were made in green, black, blue, orange and maroon. . “Schrade+” steel was actually a trademarked name used for at least two different stainless steel alloys. First used was 440A. Then a change was made to 420C. As of this time, there is conflicting information about when this change took place, but it seems to have been sometime after the 2000 production year. The ten patterns of the Safe-T-Grip line were introduced piecemeal between 1993 and 2002. 140OT Trail Boss was produced 1995-2003. I use these knives in my kitchen and they hold an edge reasonably well.
