My friend recieved a Buck 110 for Christmas and I cannot find it anywhere on the net. No picture yet. Buck 110 spring assisted, finger grooved, nickle silver bolsters, ebony wood, as new in wrong box. Idaho stamped for 2005. The spring assist button for this one is different in that the button is both in the handle and bolster. Ring a bell anyone? Thanks.

Throw this up in the Buck forum they’ll have some answers for you I’m sure

It sounds like an auto conversion, not a factory auto.

Spring "assisted" 110? Do you mean auto?

There are A LOT of date code charts available online that can be used to date it accurately.

If there's no recognized date code on it, it's probably a fake or unauthorized mod.

Here is a pic of a conversion with the button in both the bolster and handle, on some the button extends further into the bolster (not a factory made or authorized auto)-

From what I've read here at Bladeforums, 110 conversions are sometime Chinese counterfeit 110's converted by persons unknown into autos.

And then there are people who convert authentic 110's into autos as well, some with elongated buttons, some with round buttons.

Here is a pic of a genuine factory Buck 110 auto. Notice the lack of a nail groove in the blade. That's because it's an original auto, with no need for a groove. According to what I see from reliable online sources, Buck didn't start producing 110 autos until 2017.

sure doesn't sound like a factory 110.....like to see. a pic of it please, thank you.

Not a factory model. There was a guy in Tulsa, Oklahoma, who did auto conversions. If I remember correctly, his conversions were the model for Buck's factory auto. It's been awhile, tho, I could be wrong....
