HI!

My name is Pedro and I am from Spain. I have recently bought a Gerber Mark II and a fews days ago I have realized that seems the blade slightly bends just a 1/2 milimetre to the right side .The blade is in perfect condition and totally fixed to the handle. Can you let me know if it´s OK? What´s the reason if this?

Thanks for any help!

Pedro.

I have a couple of the Mark I, and when i bought one of them in the late 80s, i looked at a couple of them at the shop where i bought it, and they were all set into the handle slightly to one side. I bought the straightest one they had, but it is still noticeably crooked. However, it doesn't seem to affect anything in terms of performance, so it doesn't bother me. It seems like that's just how they are made. I hope this helps,

That's a perfect answer by longbeachguy. I never knew some knives are made like that.

I may be wrong on this; but if in fact, you really do have an original "Canted" MKII, you probably shouldn't use it. I believe those are the ones that have collector's value.

longbeachguy is correct though i have also heard they were canted to make them better for fighting, anyway they stopped canting them in '69 or so, my '71 MK11 is not canted, nor are any mark 1s i dont believe, the canted mark 11s/viet nam era mark 11s are worth some $$ today depending on history and condition.

Pedro, your 1/2 mil slant is not one of the purposefully canted blades, but a common production flaw with the Mark II's. I've had 3 or 4 with the same variance (including Mark I's).
