I found a nice looking little auto in a local vendor's knife display. It has a 2.5-3" blade on it, Ti or Al liners with intergral bolsters, and black micarta scales. There is no pocket clip on it, nor does it appear there has ever been. The only marking on the blade is the name WINSTON, stamped in the blade in all capital letters.
He explained that it was taken on trade for another knife, and that the gent that traded it to him collected only high end auto's. The knife looks quite nice, but needs some refinishing and a little work to really be of good quality. I believe this one was quite nice when it was new, but appears to have suffered from a good bit of use and maybe some abuse that shows in blade play and dings on the bolsters.
I was wondering if anyone knows of this maker, and if anyone would have contact info for him. If I can find the maker I would like to pick up the knife and have it looked at to see if he could put it back in decent shape for me.
Any info on this would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
Tique
