Hey guys, first post ever. I'll get right too it. I bought a dark blue anodized zt 0450 from usamadeblade 2/23/89. I took it out of the box and it was beautiful dark blue, but when i touched it, it wiped off to a light blue, greyish kinda. Is that normal, it was my first anodized knife. I wrote them a few times, didn't really answer my question or understand it maybe? Idk. I send pictures to them and still waiting. If i could figure out how to post pics on here i would show you.

The oil on your hands, or detergents in whatever you used to wipe it off can change the way the light reflects off of the handle. Thereby changing the color.

Posting pics would help assess your issue.

I mean as soon as i took it out of the box the color disappeared. I been trying to find how to post a pic

I doubt Scott had USAmadeblade back in '89. Plus, touching freshly anodized surfaces will darken the titanium, due to the oils on your hands. Anodization will wear if handled/used frequently as well.

Luke89 I accidentally deleted your email and have been trying to figure out through our orders list who it might be. I was thinking it was a ZT0562Ti so I have been emailing the wrong customers. Please email me again. Just as an FYI, the darker colors will finger print right out of the box. Darker blues, bronze and purples are prone to finger printing. It is the oils in the bag, oils on your hands and any oil that comes in contact with the anodizing. We can certainly lighten it up for you if you prefer.

Sorry about not getting back to you and deleting your emails. Email me again and we will figure out what to do to make you happy!

Scott, your awesome, you always get back to me, i didn't even know you are on here, i will definitely resend you the pics. I would post them here but its too confusing. Haha i meant 2/23/2018, its my birthdate so naturally i put 89 after. I tried the windex thing already, I'm just trying to figure out if its normal thats all, but its been difficult. I appreciate you replying and remembering.

I was able to find your email in my deleted emails folder. Sorry we get about 3-400 emails a day from Pakistani and Indian Damascus Steel makers. We delete so many that sometimes ones we mean to respond to get mixed in. I just responded and was able to look at the pics you sent me. Nice dirty used knife. Love seeing them getting carried and used. Hopefully my remarks helped. If not I am in the shop for another couple of hours tonight so feel free to call. 704 798-6478

Use Imgur to post pics. All you need to do is make an account and upload them. When you hit the "copy link" button it tells you exactly what link to use to post to forums.
