Question on blade length on my 1992 110 FG

The length of the blade from the end of the bolster to the tip of the blade is 3.5 inches, a full quarter inch shorter than my other 110's. Yet the blade looks new, complete with what appears to be the factory edge. I'm assuming someone broke off the tip and someone REALLY skilled ground a new one. What do you think?

Maybe they sent it back to Buck and they reprofiled it? That might explain the great job but a reblade would probably been easier/faster. Either way that's a nice looking knife.
