I just picked up a Presidio 5000 for work and wanted to shed some weight. Can I switch out with the Noryl GTX scales from the 522 with no issues? Is it a straight swap?

I'm a newb to knives so thanks in advance.

.The manual presidios scales will not fit correctly on the autos cause the auto scales have an extra spring housing grooved in the scales around the pivot. so the 522 scales would not work on an auto. If you wanted to make the 5000 manual and take the auto spring out you could put the 522 scales on it though. I have a 5000 with a broken auto spring just use as a manual. Putting back together axis autos is difficult so would advise against it.

Have you just tried carrying it in the molle sheath they come with? I carry ALL my folding knives in Benchmade molle sheaths daily. Presidios are great knives.

Ulf, thanks very much for responding

Makes perfect sense... the auto scales would require an additional cutout to accommodate the spring, so not a direct swap.

I'm currently carry the Presidio in the molle sheath on my duty belt, and I agree with you 100%... the molle sheath with malice clip is awesome.

Ulf, did you find the correct size spring for the bm 5000 and gerber auto? If so, what size spring do they take? Thanks.
