OK; I've been to the Vintage page and printed out all the little tang date/stamp graphics, and more or less determined what years my 6 Bucks are...

But what is the *significance* of the anvil [2002] and the Idaho [2005] graphics??? I'm guessing the Idaho has something to do with the move...no???

But what is the anvil supposed to signify???

(Yes, I did Search...didn't find any conclusive answers)... ;)

I believe the anvil represents Bucks anniversary year. maybe the anvil stands for strength..solidness...etc.....John

The anvil was originally adopted to signify blades made for Buck's centennial year in 2002. However, they inexplicably began to use the anvil in subsequent years for certain limited edition and/or special project knives. These usually were combined with a "CUSTOM" stamping thus:
BUCK
anvil
CUSTOM
U.S.A.

Sadly, what would have been a neat thing for collectors has now become a pain in the kazoo to explain to those who are just becoming interested in collecting or using Buck knives.

Sorry! :(

Maybe someone should write it up and make it a sticky...

I had thought that maybe Buck had mentioned it in their brochures for those two years, and someone had read it...

I don't think I've ever even seen a buck brochure... :(
