Question on custom Spyderco's

After a couple years of buying everything from Kershaw to Chris Reeves I've come to appreciate the diversity in the spyderco line and I'd like to make my selections more custom. So.....
Anyone make scales for the SpyderHawk? It doesn't have liners, but I thought some brown G10 anso scales would look pretty killer.
Bronze scales... who makes them? I was thinking of bronze scales on a black DLC coated fully serrated delica? Or an Endura?
My next mod will be some dark brown micarta scales with a deep anodized titanium clip on my new Yojimbo. If any of you have suggestions on mods or especially custom scale makers please share. I've got a set of Igorded scales on a griptilian that I love. It's a totally different knife

The Endura, Delica, and Yojimbo should have quite a diverse selection of aftermarket scales. The Spyderhawk I'm jot so sure on.

My soon to be custom spyderco knives. I've had trouble finding a fully serrated Delica with the black blade

It appears that due to the construction of the SpyderHawk scales they are not available on the custom market. If I were to dye them do I need to take the blade out?? Is that even possible? Also it doesn't look like there are screw holes for the clip... how does it come out (if it does)? I wasn't able to find a picture of a single modified SpyderHawk.
I found an old ATS 55 Delica that I can carry as a small people friendly knife, but it is similar construction to the SpyderHawk with no liners so I won't be able to use it as a base for the micarta handled Delica I want.
I'm kind of torn as to my next item. I want a Gayle Bradley as they will be discontinued soon... but I also want to do some scales and a new pocket clip for the Yojimbo. I know it makes sense to buy the GB, but I've got a custom Grip that kind of fits that role. I love the look of some of the custom GB's though... then there is the issue with having to stick with stock kind of boring blades for a little while longer.

If you go Gayle Bradley sketchen has done some awesome custom work to them. You will even see one of his modified works on the Exchange from time to time. I would highly suggest going that route. As for the Yojimbo you can find many options for custom scales and clips online and through some of the custom guys here on the forum, this is true as well for the Delica. You could possibly get a Delica parts kit and modify it them add custom scales and clip. Many many options to think about

It can be done, but it requires a total rebuild of the knife, not just a scale swap. At the very least, a new backspacer/spring carrier must be constructed. Depending on the scale material chosen, you may need liners as well, especially if you want a clip, since you'll need something to anchor it unless you go with something like bronze.

The fellow who did this Atlantic Salt isn't doing them anymore, but it may give you some idea of what can be done.

I hope these pics of my Spyderhawk help...

I'd like scales for mine, too! I have to stop using this crappy paint...

I can attest to the quality of work that comes from the wonder team of Sketchen/MMans0311. I have a custom GB that I purchased from Sketchen that is amazing! I'm planning on picking up a second GB as a spare, because it truly is one of the best knives Spyderco's ever put out. A workhorse that, to me, looks and feels great! They're only going to get harder to come by as time goes on!

Probably much easier to dye the scales, than rattle-can spray them. Did you even tape it off, or just lay newspaper over it? I wonder if the spray-paint could effect the chemistry of the FRN and make it brittle?

Love that PE Atlantic Salt, Deacon! I drool every time I see you post it. :) I'd love a similar ti-liner setup for my PE Rescue, but with Micarta instead. Mmmmm...

I'm going to pick up some Rit dye tomorrow and see if I can't get a tan/green color. Everyone sees the yellow and then asks what it is. As you can imagine the SpyderHawk isn't super sheeple friendly. They immediately look at me like I'm Hannibal Lector. I guess that where its going to have to stay. I'm really liking the idea of a DLC coated PM2 with copper scales. The compression lock is my favorite... even over the axis lock that I also enjoy. I lIke the all metal knives, but the lock on the umnumzaan and Sebenza just didn't do it for me. The lock on the GB is similiar so I'm probably going to go with the PM2 first and see how I like it.
Once I have that and the SpyderHawk I may be able to part with the yojimbo long enough to get some scales on it.
