Alright.......
First, why did you revive an old thread after I already made a new one (that you responded to) which goes through the process of my attempt at de assisting my 586. The job is already done and I love the result.
Secondly, oh wise one, the detent is NOT from the spring, it comes from the design of the axis lock. The lockbar rides along the tang as closing, before then falling into a grove when it is closed. To open the knife, the lock bar has to roll out of that groove which takes effort because it is fighting the force of the Lock bar trying to go forward. All of this means that the knife functions perfectly with or without the spring. Why would Benchmade design a product that would be horribly dangerous if the spring were to break?
Thirdly, the spring has little to no effect on the blade centering. Mine is now just a tiny but off to the left, but it was like that before taking the spring out. It certainly doesn't scrape the liner.
fourthly(?), the knife is not just a LITTLE smooth now, it's VERY smooth
And fifthly(?), send it back in pieces in a plastic bag? I already finished it! You posted near the end of my other thread after I had already finished the whole process! You obviously didn't read that one though because your post there was very similar to this.
I swear, you sound like you're just spamming advice everywhere, but without actually knowing anything
