Question on dyed stag

Hi Guys,

I have some professionally dyed stag, and while extensively handling the knife, I've noticed the high points on the stag are losing the brown color. They are turning a natural, polished looking white produced by simple wear. My question, is this normal for dyed stag, or is it indicative of a poor dye job?

Thanks,

Dave

Was this stag dyed...like Culpeppers' amber stag or was it just trreated with potassium permanganate? Either way...any sanding of the stag will result in a lighter color interior. Most people like a bit of this...not all for sure...but almost impossible to have no color distinctions. PP does not dye the stag...it burns it.

Hi guys,

I honestly can't remember where I had it dyed. It looks fine to me, and I'm glad this is a normal reaction to handling.

Thanks,
Dave
