Question on Exchange Threads

I hate to waste a whole thread on this question, but I could not figure out how else to ask.

Sometimes I see threads on the Exchange that are locked, but it looks like the seller didn't do anything wrong AND the knife/knives are still for sale, just that the thread is locked. Why? Just curious. Thank you in advance.

Usually that means that a sale has been completed without any posts in the thread to indicate a transaction. I’ve bought knives on the Exchange without posting with the intent of keeping my transactions private.

Less often it can mean the knife was withdrawn by the seller.

In most cases, if an ad is locked, it was locked by the OP. Most of the time, it is because the item is sold out withdrawn; but that isn't always the case. I lock all of my ads now because it is the only effective way to stop people from posting in them - it does result in fewer people looking; but I'm okay with that.

Think of it as a good way to vet a buyer

I know one seller who locks threads to avoid getting called out on his ridiculous prices and obnoxious flipping behavior. But he’s probably not typical of others locking their threads.

and, btw, it’s no one who has posted above.
