Question on Final Etch of Damascus Blade

mark, What makes the steel layers apear light and dark is a result of etching. The 2 different steels etch differently creating a dark and light tone (this is a simple explanation). I wouldnt advise bluing a blade unless you have steel experience. What ever you do dont attempt to heat blue it....you will kill the temper....
