Question on Hinderer XM 18

Hi all, can anyone tell me how to determine what bladesteel was used in any given XM 18 gen 3. I believe some were fitted with S 30 V and others with another type of steel.

I was enjoying this forum as a guest for a long time, now joined.

I am also wanting to buy two unused gen 3's. Either flipper or non flipper.

Looking at Arizona Custom Knives, all of his Gen IIIs were made of "Latrobe DuraTech 20CV." Not saying all of his knives are, but that's what I could find.

The 1st generations might have had a different steel, but the 2nd and 3rd generations have Duratech 20CV.

That's right. 20CV is the only steel used for the 3rd generation folders.

I know they are in short supply with a waiting list at the dealers. Rick is no longer taking orders.

I'm maybe wrong but I thought 2nd Gens were available with both S30V and Duratech 20CV....
Whatever the steel on my Gen 2, please just note that you can't go wrong with one of Rick's knives.
