I have been considering the Short KaBar with the 5 1/4 inch blade and kraton handle but I can't find any information on the tang. I even checked the KaBar site and it doesn't say.

Is is like the full size KaBar without a full tang or is it different?

Anyone have this knife or have experience with it?

Thanks in advance for any information.

Thanks. Maybe I am missinig something but that link is a discussion of the short "bowie". I am looking at the short version of the Kabar USMC fighting knife.

That was my first knife I had as a boy. Great memories. Good knife.

It's a rat tang like it's big brother.

EDIT: It's a great knife for adults too. 5" blade IIRC.

The Ka-bar shorty has a stick tang that goes all the way through the pommel. It's all held together with a cross pin. This is the same construction as the full-size model.

I have a Kabar short and I love the thing, great for carving and small tasks around the camp. I've done some lite batoning with it to prepare some wood for a fire and it held up great.
