I just bought a Manix 2 in 154CM and it is really nice. I have never seen this model till recently and I ordered one right away after holding it. My question is how is this lock prooving itself in the real world? How does the clear plastic lock parts hold up over time? It paid $72.00 for it and it seems like it should be much more expensive as the quality is very high and it is 100% USA made. Thanks for any info on this knife!

AFAIK, the only report of a broken cage was from someone who took their knife apart and broke it while reassembling it. As for the price, Sal mentioned that the price of the base model Manix 2 (and, IIRC, the base model ParaMilitary as well) is an experiment with lower profit margins so yes, it's something of a bargain.

Thanks for the info. So the knife and lock parts hold up pretty well? When I bought it the discription said the lock was a "hard use" lock stronger then most other locks designs. Is that true? How long has the Manix 2 been out for? Many thanks!

The manix 2 has been out for a while, and there are many variations and sprint runs. Its an amazing knife, I love mine. That knife should last you the rest of your life. There is also a larger version comming out soon. I dont know many people who don't like their manix, and I haven't heard of any lock problems that were not dirrectly related to abuse.

Thanks! I just hope the clear plastic lock is going to last and be durable. It sounds like it is and no problems are poping up with it. Do all versions of the Manix have this same clear lock?

I've had my xhp since it came out and carried it for about 6 months strait and it still sees a decent amount of pocket time...I have never had a single problem with it, I'm also pretty sure all of the manix 2's have the clear cage

I've bought four manix 2s, two of which have seen their fair share of use and abuse - a standard one and a CTSBD30P sprint one. They've been used for everything from normal cutting to my buddies deciding to have a knife throwing contest with my pocket knives. :grumpy: Haven't had one break or fail in any way yet, although I have noticed that the lanyard hole thingy tends to get loose on them if they get thrown around or you do stupid things like pry with them. I haven't noticed any wear on the lock itself, no matter what kind of crud it gets full of. They're also a dream to use while wearing gloves (from leather work gloves to thicker winter gloves) thanks to the ludicrous amounts of jimping, the large spyderhole, and the lock mechanism.

In short, I've found the design to be fantastic for real-world use.
