Question on manufacture dates Buck 450 and 395

Can anyone tell me the first year of production of the 450 Protege and the 395 Omni Hunter??
I see one of each on the bay. One is 450^ (1988) and other is a 395v (1989). I checked all the catalogs on BCCI and found neither listed until 1995.??Am I just blind, miss something in the catalogs or is the an error somewhere?

Chico, I found the 450 Protegé in the 1994 catalog and it is listed at NEW!--Protege'. I gifted my youngest daughter one, it was a pawn shop find with no box. Give me a minute to dig it out and look at the date stamp on it. DM

Hers has a backwards C = 96 . I'm still going thru hard copy Buck catalogs, searching for the Omni. DM

The 395 Omni Hunter 10pt. I found in the 2008 & 09 catalog. Some of the colored handles are listed as 'New'. i.e. Mossy Oak Blaze & Winter. The first 10pt. I'm sure came out a year or two before 08 as it didn't state it as new. My catalogs jump from 2003 to 08 so, it must have come out in this gap close to 07. That's the best I can do for you. DM

Look closer at the codes. I think you are confusing the upside down V (1988) for an up arrow (1998) Look for a shaft in the Center of the V.
