Question on Moving the Pocket Clip on Production Folders

I just purchased three new production folders this week and received them all in today. From the looks of it, I need to move the pocket clip to the opposite end of the knife on two of them, but I can't find an allen type wrench the right size to remove the clips. I had an old CRKT knife that came with a tool when I got it, but I can't find it now and none of the new knives included one. The two I need to move the clip on are a Kershaw Blur and an Ontario Rat Folder. Anyone know what size of tool I need for these? (They look the same) and if this is something I can pick up at Home Depot or Walmart instead of having to get it from a knife shop?

Thanks.

Not an allen wrench, they use a torx T-6
you can pick up a set at home depot for like 8 or 9 bucks

Ahhh thanks Derrick, that must be why the allen wrench LOOKED the right size but wouldn't fit in. I'll have to go out and get some tomorrow. Thanks for the info.

Cannot say for certain, but most newer knives use TORX screws.
And no, Allen wrenchs will not work in TORX head screws. If you don't believe me, refer to the knife in your hand.:D

If there is a Brick and Mortar knife shop near you, check with them, they will have what you need. I have a place called Knives and More here in Oklahoma City that has all of the tools for modern knives.

Home Depot or Lowes, or your local ACE hardware store can also help you.

If you're not in a rush, you could e-mail Kershaw asking nicely for the tool and they will send you one

For a kershaw get a 6 and 8 torx. The 8 is to tighten/loosen the blade pivot. You may want to get 2 different torx drivers for the clip, as mine seemed to be in with a thread lock compound. I took mine to sears and tried the drivers to make sure they fit. For some reason one 6 worked better than another.

Both Home Depot and Lowes sell drivers with several size Torx bits stored in the handle.

Look for the 8-in-1 Torx bit screwdriver at the Home Depot. I have one and it's great.

Here you go:

The extra bits store in the handle. Perfect for my Spydercos, and probably for other makes as well.
