Just went into my profile and looked to see what email I had listed. I saw this message in one box:
New Email Address (Hotmail.com not allowed, Verizon.net will not work!!!!!) - FOR THE LOVE OF GOD PUT A WORKING, VALID EMAIL ADDRESS HERE.
AFTER YOU CHANGE YOUR ADDRESS, YOU WILL BE SENT A LINK THAT YOU MUST CLICK TO REACTIVATE YOUR PROFILE. PAY ATTENTION TO THIS OR YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO POST USING THAT PROFILE!:

Then in a second box I see this:
Confirm New Email Address (Hotmail.com not allowed, Verizon will not work) - READ THE ABOVE INSTRUCTIONS, WE REALLY MEAN IT, PUT A WORKING EMAIL ADDRESS IN HERE OR ELSE YOU WON'T BE ABLE TO USE YOUR PROFILE!!!!!:

I guess I'd have to ask first...What's the deal with Verizon?...I pay $30 a month for that email address. It ain't a freebie by any means. I put in the Yahoo address I have as it seems that Verizon isn't accepted here. What am I missing?...Thanks ...Darryl

Yahoo is fine. It's not that we don't like Verizon, it's that their email system doesn't work -- if you use a Verizon address you cannot receive and respond to the confirmation email and there's nothing we can do about that. All we can do is suggest you hassle them about it.

I'm not sure exactly what the problem is; if it's an overactive spam filter or what....

...Thanks cougar...I changed to Yahoo but I still see that notice in red in the "edit password and email" section of my CP...As long as it works though...I'll just leave it be. Thanks again.

The notice is there so if anyone is thinking of changing their email addresses they will see that and not have to find out the hard way. Believe it or not, though, some do not read that large red warning and insist on finding out the hard way....

That answered MY question. (but never had a problem receiving BFC emails or PM's sent to the Hotmail address previously listed, so ??? )

Hotmail is a different story. Owned by Microsoft, Hotmail is notoriously uncooperative about dealing with abusers -- also notoriously unreliable. There have been times when we've allowed new members to register with Hotmail addresses and times when we haven't....

There are thousands of free web-based mail providers. The only one we don't allow is Hotmail; all the others are fine.

I started with a couple of non-HM "free" web-based email providers - and they all eventually bit the dust! Resisted Hotmail when it first appeard because it didn't sound very "professional"; then gave in.

I also use Gmail (I have no secrets ;) ) but are there any others that are worthwhile?
