Question on my new CQC 15

With out getting into a whole fit and finish debate, I just got a new 15 and am curious how tight the opening and closing should be for break in. Currently the pivot screw keeps backing out after a bit of opening and closing, causing the blade to loose its center when closed. I got some lock tite and want to have the blade stiff enough, so that with break in, it'll be where is should properly be. Hope this makes sense, havent slept in 36 hours lol.

my cqc 8 has a pivot that does that to. loc tite will solve that tho. when i could push on the thumb disk and see that there was blade play at the tip i would adjust it so it was tighter. i got a cqc 15 a few weeks back, and the break in only took about 2 days to be really smooth. Ive found with the 3 emersons i own that they are all pretty stiff when there NIB, but if you play with them while your sitting around watching TV or on blade forums they are perfect after a day or two.

I really like my cqc 15, its my first tanto blade and i have to say i like it alot even tho ive never liked the look of tantos.

I absolutely love the blade design on the 15. I feel the blade was designed with nothing but bad intentions in mind. I guess my question is how still should it be before I lock tite it to allow for the smoothness that is going to happen with break in.

Mine (2011 model) was very stiff, finally I removed (just) the pivot and the blade, cleaned and oiled with WD 40 and now it is smooth, no blade play (and centered ) :)

My Horseman had a pivot screw that kept backing out too. Blue loctitie worked well and then the blade opened and closed well. My 10, 7, and A100 came with no pivot screw problems. I have a friend that told me to try standard Elmers glue also. Weird but I suppose it would be similar to loctite.

My steps:

1) Disassemble knife to clean off the factory lubricant. Replace with lube of choice and begin reassembly.

2) Apply loctite to pivote screw

3) Tighten pivot screw a little tighter than desired and allow loctite to completely dry before touching the knife again.

4) Break in knife by working the pivot. (allow one week)

At this point, the knife should open buttery smooth with no play and the pivot screw will still be stuck in place.
