Question on older Tactools

Through the quirk of dealing on-line, I THOUGHT I was getting a current version of the TacTool. What I ended up with is a beautiful, unused, gray knife with "BK&T" on one side, and "Made in USA, Effingham, IL" on the other, in an Eagle sheath. Now I can't find any more information on its history, so I thought this might be the place to start.

Can anyone tell me its history, the type of steel, and an idea of its actual value (do I use it or do I buy a current production Tactool for abuse?).

Thanks!

CJ - the older TacTools (as well as the other older Beckers) were made by Blackjack. I am not sure of the steel used on the TacTool, but I seem to recall that the original Jerry Fisk Magnum Camp knives had satin finished 440C stainless.

As to the current value, I have no idea on what that would be. You might want to try posting on Bernard Levine's forum here to see if he or anyone else on there knows. Another method you can try is contacting Cutlery Shoppe. They sold all the Beckersback when Blackjack made them. They might have some information on file about them (e.g. copies of their old catalogs) that they can look up the price for you. Hope this helps.
