Looking to get rid of a few of my knives this weekend knife and gun show and go buy a para 2 what blade steel do you para 2 lovers recommend?

I'm partial to m4...which isn't available (yet).
Be careful buying a PM2 at a gun show, unless you're good at spotting fakes.

Oh no I'm buying it at a retail store seen and read about to many people burned

Gotcha. You aren't likely to find other steels in retail stores - sprint runs and exclusives tend to go fairly quickly. There's on place I can think of offhand; but they charge a premium (and won't ship to my state, even if I was willing to pay it).
Probably the most obtainable special steels will be S35vn and CTS 204p...but the standard S30v is decent.

Any PM2 is 'recommended'.

S110V and M4 versions are coming, probably end of the year.

Others like S90V and Cruwear are 'sold out' but occasionally show up in the Exchange here.

But standard S30V is no slouch and readily available and cheapest version.

I use plain old S30V black PM2 and can't complain at all...easy to sharpen on sharpmaker, doesn't rust, holds an edge decently well.

No CPM CruWear PM2 yet (Or non CPM ingot version), existing or announced (Despite the desire from a number of us who have some other CruWear offerings that are fans of the PM2 platform). Only the Mule team in ingot version, and the Military and Manix 2 in CPM CruWear have thus far made appearances. I do agree though that any PM2 is a good choice. I'd LOVE to see CPM CruWear though, and I'd also be very curious to see how CPM CruWear would perform with serrations...something that hasn't been explored yet (That I've seen anyhow).

PM2 in CruWear?
I'm in!! Thanks for the opportunity!

I don't know about the 110v; but I think both places have said the M4 versions won't happen this year.

S30V, because it's a great steel for EDC and you're looking at $200-400 for one of the fancier options.

Per the Sal bombshell thread on the Spyderco forums, the S110V PM2 is currently in production and will be available 'sometime later this year' with the M4 following 'sometime after that'

Get the standard s30v. Haven't found a test yet that it couldn't handle. Keep an eye out at the different retailers. I was able to snag one brand new for $100

Well after 3 stores I haven't found what I'm looking for so the search continues going downtown Chicago tomorrow we will see what I find there

There's a 154/S90V I saw in the classifieds here not long ago, I don't think it sold. That being said, for a user id get a 204P or M4 when they come out. Nothing wrong with S30V though

You're not going to find a PM2 in anything but S30V in a brick-n-motar store.

You may not even find one. My local B&M gets about 2 of them in a year and they sell out typically before the end of the day. The interwebz are your best bet. Just make sure you use proper retailers.

I don't think you will find one in downtown. The only B&M store that might have them is a gun store in one of the Northern suburbs.

+1 on the PM2/S30V also in use by me,its a fine steel,i would get this one now and plane on getting the M4 version later next year.
