QUESTION on RATWEILER

I now have 2 Ratweiler's, one is a mint urban camo the other i just got off ebay is a crome finish with black micarta handle in great shape.My ? is what would be the better user ? the better collector ? I would like to use one as my camper and the other as the collector. Any input on this would be great.
 
"crome" finish?? I don't believe there were ever any satin finish (polished metal) Ratweilers from the factory. Several people put a home satin-finish on that looked spectacular once they had worn down the factory finish.

(I did one and, after I bought an OD RW, I sold the home satin.)

Many people will immediately jump on "use 'em! Use 'em hard!" And feel free to... there is nothing wrong with that! :D The blade can often be sold for MORE than factory retail even after it's been used. Gosh knows I would pay more than original MSRP for a Busse Aftershock Bolo!

The better collector, by far, will be the mint urban camo. Not that many were made and it's in mint condition. Ergo, the satin RW would be the better user... or would it? The satin finish will require more maintenance. The black (or urban) finish is not put on the blade simply to make it more "mall-ninja" tactical. These are carbon blades that will rust, if proper care is not taken.

Now... my Satin RW WAS my user. I never had a corrosion/rust problem. But I also wiped it down after use with militec.

There is no right or wrong answer. Only options... Welcome to the Swamp!
 
my ratweiler i got off ebay looks just like your "satin" ratweiler. So somebody took the finish off the blade i got off ebay. So that answers my question then for what would be the better user.The satin Rat will be my new camper. thanks paddling_man. Wasent sure if swamprat offered the ratweiler in satin finish.

Would this be the knife you bought? If so, that was the knife which I did the satin finish. Sold by me to Dark Norseman, who sold it to the cat in HI, who sold it to... you??

Yep thats my new RW!! lol, the sheath really sucks i have a spec-ops survival for it.She's found a good home now! I also just got the Pork Belly Skinner off ebay. Ill have to post a pic of my little collection now

not sure who made the sheath Rat Finkenstein, its not marked.Its really thick looks like conceal-X to me,good materials just the blade is real loose in the sheath, if you hold the sheath with knife in upside down the knife will fall out.

Acetone to soften the coating up and LOTS & LOTS of hand sanding. :D

I've heard since that there are other chemical available that make the job MUCH easier. Not to mention a drillbit-type tool that helps alot.

Yours was done the old fashioned way... with lots of elbow grease!
