I just purchased a USA made Schrimshaw Sharpfinger in the box with all the papers and a brown basket weave shearh for $40.00. The box was sort of a parchment color. Could someone tell me the approximate age by the box it came in and the worth. Thanks

What is the scrimshaw scene? If it is American Wildlife Series, it can be dated easily. Value is pretty subjective, but I think $40.00 for a sharpfinger is a good buy.

You are 100% correct. That is the number it has stamped on it. Whomever had it must have really taken care of it.No rust or stains at all. Thanks. very much for the info. I know value depends on how bad someone wants it but as collectibles go is this a pretty valuble knife?

I do not do much with the Scrimshaw, but I don't think any of them are particularly rare. However, it is over 30 years old, so with having it in excellent condition with the cool sheath, box, and papers make it collectible.
