Question on sending a knife back to Spyderco

Well, I've tried and tried to sharpen my dull ZDP189 Endura (got it used in this condition). I got some progress with Gatco diamond stones, but I can't seem to get a good edge on this steel. So I've decided to send it to Golden to have it sharpened.

The question at hand is: when sent in for sharpening, what is the angle at which it will be sharpened? It's not a really big deal, but I'd like it to be 30* inclusive.

Thanks for the reply. That's what I thought as well. If anyone has any definitive answer, I'd love to hear it!

IIRC, in the DVD with the sharpmaker, Sal says 30° from the factory. Maybe someone else can confirm. Since they are sharpened by hand, however, there's going to be some variance in what they actually achieve. Some may come out at 28°. Some at 35°. They go for 30° so that their knives will work seamlessly with the sharpmaker, which has 30° (for the primary bevel) and 40° settings (for the microbevel). ZDP is a steel that should be run thin, as it really excels with the thinner edge.

I think that's where I remember seeing the 30* bevel. That's fine by me. Thanks for the reply jabba.
