I have need of a small, hollowground blade. I'm thinking the Mini Grip.
The question is. Is it thinly ground? It must slice easily.

:DIt would certainly be less cost than an Insingo.

It is pretty thin, the presidio is also another thin hollow ground blade. But yes its a good slicer, at least IMO.

i just measured mine behinde the edge, and its 0.35mm or 0.0138 inches in thickness. so it really is very thin in my understanding.

i just did another measurement, an even 5mm / 0.2 inch behind the edge, ist still 0.5mm milimetre thick. so you get a lot of life out of this knife and a really good slicing capability.
i really love my hollow ground grip

oh, forgot to mention that i have the regular sized version. but, i doubt that the small version will differ much from my measurements.

I have a mini (555BKHGOD - lots of letters huh!?!?) and it is an excellent slicer, very close to some of Spyderco's FFG blades which are renowned for their slicing ability. The hollow grind is pretty slight, but makes for a thin blade nonetheless. Secondly, the 154CM steel is easy to sharpen and will take an edge of hair whittling quality. I think that you'd be happy with this knife.

Rather than looking at the website specs, why don't you look at a blade. This is a custom shop s30v 550 blade, it was coated:

Were it hollow ground, it would not have a grind face as flat as a pancake (I flatsanded off the coating).

I'm not saying the 555 isn't HG, I don't have one to look at.

But the 550 isn't.

That's really odd. My understanding was that the original 550 and 555 with the oval hole were flat ground, and when they switched to a round hole they also made it hollow ground and changed the name to 550HG and 555HG, respectively. BM's website definitely says that it's hollow.

Production blades are HG. Customs are not.

The original 555 had the oval hole and were flat ground but not a full flat grind. The 555 HG is hollow ground with the round hole. Wish I had not traded my orig. 555 off but may get myself one of the newer 555HG. Always liked the sheepfoot blade of the 555.

Ah! I didn't even know that they made a sheepsfoot. And here I've been concentrating on getting an Insingo. I'll get the Benchmade for sure.

I'm not dissing the Insingo btw, I love my Sebenza, but I like the cost better on the grip. Especially since I plan to use the knife hard. Couldn't bring myself to use the Sebbie much (waiting for a Strider to arrive for trade) so the BKC knife would be perfect.

I have 2 S30V 555's with the sheepsfoot blades, fantastic little knives. Both of mine are very thinly ground and are probably the best slicers out of all the knives i've had.
