How long is the blade on this knife? I was thinking about getting a leather sheath made for my HH and and doing a piggy-back with the Skeleton Key. I think that would be a perty sweet setup!:D

The specs:

Overall Length 7 1/8"
Blade length approx 3"
Handle length approx 4 1/8"
Blade Height approx 1/2"
Thickness 3/16"

I managed to get a Skeleton Key as well the other night. I have been thinking about doing the same thing - making a piggy-back with a larger knife. But the only quality large knife I have is my new Battle Rat.

Is it bad form, poor taste, or violation of some unwritten law to piggy-back a Busse on a Swamp Rat?

Honest question, I am just curious. I love this new Battle Rat, and am so looking forward to my first Busse. :)

Thanks very much, and I apologize in advance for the possible hijack of the thread.

I don't know. Seems like some pretty bad mojo to me. (groan.)

Dude, they are both AWESOME knives. Not to mention they are YOUR knives and sheath.

I wouldn't worry what others would think.

Now if you said mixing a Busse with Cold Steel........   :foot:

I got my Skeleton Key in the mail today! Woo-hoo!! I am getting so spoiled. ;)

It looks like it will be a perfect fit, length-wise. The SK overall length is about an inch shorter than the Battle Rat blade length. I also bought matching lanyards for them both.

I'm going to research the leather for a bit. You guys have recommended some really top-notch craftsmen.

You experienced Hogs are right - this is a really fun way to go broke. :D

Did it come with a sheath? If not, are you aware of any sheath makers with sheaths for it?

mab,

Welcome to Busse. If you follow the links in the stickies at the top of this forum, you will see that all new Busse knives come from the shop without sheaths. However, there are several makers who would by more than happy to accomodate your needs. The links to them are available above, on the Busse homesite, and the Company Store webpage.

Hi mab,

It came with a piece of cardboard wrapped around the blade, to protect it (and the mailman!) during shipping. Which is just fine, I am going to get a custom sheath done. I am leaning towards Leatherman, his work looks really great. And he supports this forum, too. :) Lots of folks here recommended him to me. There are a lot of great sheath makers out there.
