Question on stockmans and congress knives.

Please excuse any misuse of terms; I am somewhat of a novice with traditional folders and spend most of my time in other areas of the forum. Virtually all of the stockmans(meaning any folder with 2 blades at one end and 1 at the other end)I have ever seen come with all 3 blades as plain edged. However I believe at one time "Old Timer" made a stockman with 1 blade having a serrated edge? I like the idea as it made a small versatile knife design even more versatile. 3 Questions: 1) Does anyone still make a stockman like this? 2) Does anyone make a congress knife(2 blades at each end; and apologies if I am being overly obvious)which has 1 of the blades serrated and possibly another blade as a sawblade. 3) Since these combinations seems rare, am I weird for wanting a knives like this?
You don't have to answer the last question; probably only my retailer or a therapist knows for sure. ;)

TIA,
Mith:D .

I have a Remington Stockman R-2 with a serrated blade. It is the model with the tool to change chokes on a shotgun.
BTW I do not think you are wierd.:)

Well, it's not exactly what you're looking for but...
Spyderco had the Mini-Dyad (or Dyad Jr--the names are little confusing depending on what year it was made).
It really is'nt a slipjoint, it's a lock-back with two blades (one at each end), one serrated and the other is plainedge.

The knife is rather small and can be carried comfortably in the pocket. Both blades have the Spyderco thumb-hole, and while they're small, they do work.

The older one that I have has ATS-55 steel and black micarta scales and a removable pocket-clip. The newer ones are FRN and I don't know what the steel is, and I don't think they have a pocket-clip (but I could be wrong).
You can see them at Spyderco's website.

There is another knife you might want to consider, although it's not a stockman or a congress.
Wenger makes a swiss army knife with a wood-saw, a main serrated blade, and a small plainedge pen-blade (it also has an awl, can opener, bottle-opener/screwdriver, and phillips), and it's not much bigger than a Buck 303.
I think it's called the Serrated Backpacker.

Good luck,
Allen.

Camillus used to make (until recently) a small 4-blade congress with one serrated sheepfoot blade. I think that now they make the same pattern but with all plain edge blades. You may want to check their website - they might make a stockman with a serrated edge sheepfoot blade. BTW, I'm in Mass, too - have you heard about our loacal knife club (Northeast Cutlery Collectors)? We have shows every other month - alternating between Marlboro, MA and East Windsor CT. Let me know if you want more info.

Camillus did make a small Congress with a serrated blade. I have one. Nice knife. Schrade did make an Old Timer Stockman pattern with a serrated sheepfoot blade. I don't know if they still make it or not. Buck and some other companies did make them. I don't think its crazy to want the knife pattern you need for your use. I have over 200 pocketknives and recently figured out that I am not really a collector I'm just looking for the perfect pocketknife for my use and am accualating knives along the way. Enjoy your knives!
