How well does the titanium finish hold up on the handle of the SNG? You know the "fire" looking titanium finish? Does it wear well or rub off and get scratched up? Many thanks!!!

This finish will hold up pretty well.
You'll probably see the colors fade in wear areas but the stripy character should persist.

I've had the experience of removing finish applied by this technique and it takes some effort rubbing with scotchbrite to remove it entirely. Naturally you can scratch it and so forth but I wouldn't describe it as particularly fragile at all.

i've been carrying an sng for years and the flame striping is holding up very well. bear in mind the metal is actually discolored, not just at the surface. so even if you wear off some of the top finish the color will remain. at least for a while.

i think the striping is kind of cheesy though. when (if) i send my sng back to strider for servicing i'm having the titanium side bead blasted.

while i like the way it looks a lot it will scratch/scuff up, if you carry keys in the same pocket with a SnG withdrawing the keys will scuff it up, for instance, dont ask how i know this lol.

The stripes are pretty tough and look better with a few scratches, hell even brand new ones have the odd 'scuff'.

I would like a sebenza with tiger stripes now that would be cool. :)

Thanks guys!!!

So how about the stone washed/tumbled finish? Woul it be more wear resistant then the "flame" finish?

imho it probably would. SW finishes from spyderco (ti ATR) and EKI (cqc12) hold up really well, they will still scuff though.

imho nothing looks "better" scuffed up lol, YMMV though.

I bought one of midgets SnG's 18 months ago. I work at a brake press, it gets banged up regularly from sheet metal, angle iron carts, etc. The exposed butt still has lots of color.

Thanks for your service, midget, keep checking your six.

the "flameing" itself wont wear off, or sure wont wear off easily, but like i said it will scuff and such.

I carry my SnG almost every day and have for a couple of years. The flame pattern still looks fine, although there are a few scratches, especially on the top corner of the pocket clip where it is most likely to rub up against something.
