On some of Bucks knives. Can it be removed without removing the BUCK name and model number marked on the blade? Thanks y'all

Only if Buck and the model number are stamped. I just removed the coating on a Cabelas AG 110 and since the words Buck 110 were etched, it disappeared with the coating.

The coating can be removed with lacquer thinner. The Buck name and other info will still be there if stamped.

I think my 2010 was as well. Maybe it's only the S30v that they don't stamp. I've heard stamping is not a good idea. As a matter of fact I wrecked the S30v 110 tango tip that I ground by stamping it.

Stamping is a good idea if you want me to buy the 110.

:)

As you can see by my avatar, I like the look of a good stamp. To me it means quality.

While it may be true that the new powder steels like S30V won't tolerate stamping, the good steels have tolerated it for many, many years.

There may be another explanation.

Recent trends toward etching or engraving are probably more likely to be a way to increase profits.

Etching by chemical or laser is probably cheaper and more flexible for a manufacturer.
I LIKE STAMPS.
