Question on the Case 6227

With the recent thread on the single spring two blade slip joints I have had to go out and get me a couple. I was able to score a 1971 6233 with the slim clip main blade last week and now I feel like I need one with round bolsters. Am I correct in understanding that the 6227 is a single spring knife? I also want to take a moment to thank everyone who gives so much to this forum and contribute such great information. I really enjoy stopping here and learning about one of my favorite hobbies. I hope everybody has a blessed day.

Welcome to the forum! I'm pretty sure the 27 pattern is a two spring knife.

I think most 27s I've seen are two spring jack knives, but there are some pen knife versions that, I think, are single spring.

Thank you so much for the info, and the welcome. The 6227 I'm thinking about was the pen knife that was part of the "Pocket Worn " series in Old Red Bone. I'm into little knives at the moment. And I was really hoping that this particular one was a single spring knife but the pictures don't give it away clearly. Thanks again

I think Mike is correct. I found a photo in a Google Image search and one on Ebay showing clear shots of the backspring on the pen versions. Those two photos reveal that the pen version is in fact, a single spring.

Thank you so much for the info Rick and Mike. My search abilities are obviously lacking. Looks like I will be the new owner of a 6227 pen knife!!!!

As a footnote, if you're interested in a CASE single spring, then keep an eye out for the 6208 Half-Whittler. It's smaller than their Penknife and offers more handle choice. However, recently, they've turned it into a two spring knife which is incomprehensible :grumpy: Look out for ones before around 2013.

Regards, Will

[emoji52] I was just eyeing the 6208 and didn't realise is was turned into a two spring design before I read your post. Hmmpf have to think on this for a while.
