I've been interested in this design for quite a while, but never got around to getting one. How well are the lock releases constructed, and what are they made of? Aluminum like the rest?

Hi Sph3ric Pyramid:

The locking bar is steel, set in tracks in the Al handle. I cannot tell if the tabs on the sides are steel or Al, but they aren't going to break any time soon. Machining is VERY precise, and the tabs are well recessed.

This is a very solid knife, and I have stropped the edge to beyond what I usually achieve on higher-priced knives.

Normally, I won't buy two of anything, but I ordered another as soon as the first arrived--just in case CRKT decided they had made this one too good to keep in production.

This has become my EDC if I'm not carrying my Tarani. I say these things as a long-time Benchmade Axis fan/owner; I find it that much of a pleasure to use.

Best regards.

Cool. I'll probably put it on my christmas list, then. AXIS-lock fan here, will have to see how it compares, price is comparable to the BM Griptilian (which is one of my favorites).

Also might be able to put some custom scales on it, too. :D
