Ive heard a rumor that the Emerson Collectors Association knives all have hand ground blades. Just wondering if there is any truth to this at all.

Not sure, but that was alway the impression i got from EKI... The grinds are different from the production line

I just know that the ECA Persian was, and it was advertised as such during its release. It was also a zero grind, which I don't think any of the subsequent ECA knives are.

I haven't had the opportunity to look a the older models in person but they might be Earnest's handy work due to the satin finish like the custom knives. The Regiment looks like a standard production model's stonewash finish. So I say yes and no to the question.

I have a strong feeling the HMMmV-Ks were.
And my 19 Eleven has hand ground characteristics.
Pretty sure the newer ones aren't tho

None of the ECA knives were ever represented to be hand ground by Ernie. Just as a few of the '98 Commanders were done by him on an ad hoc basis, so too were the occasional ECA knife. Given his huge custom knife workload, it is entirely unreasonable to think that he is grinding 100+ knives in addition to that load. This is true of all the ECA models, to include the truncated Kandahar run.

The HMMV-K's and usually the first 4 of each model were hand ground by Ernie. Prototypes, etc. This way we could get pictures of them and he could really get a feel for what they'd look like. Not all runs were 100 knives by the way.
