I made a stop in last night to the local Sportsmans Warehouse. Tucked away in the back of their knife display I spied an ET. Been kinda looking for one, so thought I would have a look !

Lets just say it was considerably marked down. . I couldnt refuse, lol

The only problem I found with it is that theres a slight nick in the tip of the blade, about 1/2 from the tip. The blade contacts the cross bar that the torsion spring is on. :grumpy:

I knew this when I bought it, but the price was right. I figure there has got to be a way to adjust it so that the blade doesnt hit the bar. The ding isnt bad, and can be readily sharpened out, I just want to correct the problem before I do, so that it doesnt happen again !

So tell me oh great Kershaw gurus, how does it adjust? I figure worst case I could send it to Kershaw to fix. But I'm kinda having to much fun playing with it, was hoping it was something I could do myself !

Also the blade isnt quiet centered, but its not off my much, just a hair, I can probably live with that.

Other than these slight problems, I really like this thing, very innovative, and a blast to play with !!! Havent even cut myself yet.

Dang, no one knows?
Can someone with a ET tell me how far thier blade rides above the cross member the the torsion spring is on? Maybe its supposed to do this and I just need to sharepn the nick out.

Otherwise, I guess I'll call Kershaw tomorrow and see what they say.

I'm not sure you can make any adjustments to keep the tip of that blade from hitting the cross member.

When the knife is in the closed position, look at the top end of the piece that acts as the spine, you should notice a small screw. A T-6 driver can be place in there, and your action can be tweaked with a turn in either direction. Seems I remember the deeper the screw goes the smoother the action can get, but you can mess around with it till you get it to your liking. This may adjust your blade positioning as well, but I have never looked for that before while dialing an E.T. in.

Hopefully that makes sense, as the E.T. is a complicated little thing.

I'll talk to Craig on Monday to see if any other adjustments can be made to assist with the issue.

Thanks Thomas ! You talking about the little hex headed screw that acts as a blade stop? I found that one by looking on the Grant & Gavin Hawk website.

Been playing with it a bit, not sure it lifts the blade any though.

Really like the ET though, its different and fun, hard to put down !!

And still havent had to use any bandaids!! lol

I'm going to go ahead and sharpen the little ding in the edge out and see what happens, it shouldnt take much.

After all the opening and closing it doesnt seem to have gotten any worse. Blade could be just a skosh wide.

I had the same problem with the first ET I ordered. I sent it in to Kershaw and they sent me a new one that was perfect! It is not so perfect anymore, though, because I've been using it so much. The blade is a little scratched up, but the action and performance is still top notch. Very, very sharp!

Yea, I checked with Craig, and it looks like there is no fix for your E.T. walkingdude. Time to send her in, sorry bout that.

No problem I actually called the warranty dept. today and talked to John, I believe was his name.

I'll get it headed that way, he said they would replace it no problem !

Probably have to wait till next week, no biggie though.
Thanks Thomas !
