Hello everybody,
I am new to bf but have been reading through a lot of the other posts and see that you all have a lot of info on knives; so i thought you could help me out. I am interested in buying the Lahar, but was wondering if the pocket clip could be set up for tip up carry? Also, if anyone has a lahar and a bump, I would greatly appriciate a pic of the two next to each other so i can compare the size of the Lahar to my Spec Bump. Thanks in advance, Greg

Hey there,
I am not a huge Kershaw buff, but I do happen to like them... A LOT! and plan on getting more.

I have both the Blur and Lahar. The Lahar can be converted to either tip up or tip down carry, whichever you prefer but only on the right hand side.

I can post a pic of a Blur, Lahar, and Leek side by side later tonight. Sorry I don't have a Bump.

Here ya go...

You will like it. Compared to a Leek, the Lahar seems like it is on steroids... :D

Any of you guys find that your Lahar (when closed) tend to shift to one side? This is because the liner lock pushes the blade too hard and the tip is (and will not ever be) centre when closed.

If I'm being confusing please say, I'll explain more or post a pic (last resort cause it's a hassle for technophobe me).

i've noticed that on mine. not a prob considering it is ram rod straight when open with no play.

Yeah, mine too. Straight with no play in all directions :) What a cutter and the ergos of the grip is great! This is my EDC but the issue I mentioned irritates me. Perhaps I'll get a pal of mine to shave off some of the thickness in the base of the liner lock (like some custom frame locks) so the sping force/stiffness is slightly reduced.

I can't help it! My little baby Lahar has a mild imperfection and it's irritating me!:p

I wouldn't expect the Lahar to go for a Krein regrind, it's my best cutter as it is :) Give us a shout on how the Krein work goes. Good luck.

check out the thread about kershaw customization (started by me btw). that basically details my crazy plan.

glsj1011: did you get your question answered?

You will love it. The Lahar is my favorite folder I have.

You really don't need to shave any metal off of the base of the liner, if you feel comfortable taking your knife apart.

When my Needs Work was having issues with it's lock, the lock wasn't bent enough. So, I opened up the knife, removed the A/O, and bent the liner over more. But I bent it too much, and the blade was off centered when closed. So I took it apart and bent it the other way, now the lock has settled into the perfect place, where the blade is in the center of the handle, and the lock engages as it should. Hope this helped. If you need it explained differently or in more detail, just ask and I will try to help.

Well looks the questions got answered, but here is one of the pics from the thread that Offsetlover linked to.

You should be able to get an idea of where the clip will be for tip up from the holes.

Actually that is a way better option than 'shaving off parts' of my favorite folder :) I'll do that, thanks for a not-so-permanent option :)

Its the same with mine. It's shifted to one side when closed. No problem with me, blade is centered and locked up tight when opened.
