question on the surge

I've been thinking about getting a surge because I like my wave so well, but I had a question about them beforeI get one. I read somewhere that the bit holder on the surge is thicker than that of the one on the wave. Is that true? If it is, how much thicker is it? If it is thicker and thereby being stronger, it would help me make a better decision on buying one. Thanks.

I don't think the surge's weight would be a problem because carrying a swisstool plus is not a problem for me.

The bit holder on the Surge is the same as the Wave. I would say that for occaisonal use, the bit holder isn't a problem. If you are a trades person, and would be constantly using the bits, you may want to think about the Core instead which has heftier driver implements. The Wave and Surge bits are held in the holder with a small spring, which more than one person here (me included) has reported falling out when reversing the bit. I carry the Surge one my days off...the Core on the job.;)

Matches is exactly right about the dimensions of the bit-holder for both the new edition Wave & Surge, they're exactly the same. I EDC the Surge with no problem, using the inside elastic band of my leather sheath to carry the bits I use most when i'm working. It makes the sheath a bit bulkier, but I don't mind. I carry a triple-a sized mini-maglite as well in one of the side "pockets". Everything's nice, neat & easy to access.
