If some who owns them could measure the thickness at the start of the swedge and its length it would be appreciated.

Edit previous post, he brought the BK7 back this morn. The swedge is 2.75" along the rake, and the grind lines are 3.5". Thickness at the tip is .065" compared to the behind the edge thickness of .050". Blade measures 7&3/16" and .195" thick. Eyeball it weighs more than the 12.9 oz advertised. I'll post on the 9 when I get it back this weekend, if no one does before then.

Cliff,
I don't have either BK&T handy where I'm typing at right now, but the BK7 is made with .188" stock, so that should be the thickness at the start of the swedge, as there is no distal taper before that. Add a few thou' for the coating, and just under .200" is what it should mich with the coating.

The BK9 is made with .210" stock, and should measure that at the beginning of the swedge, as again there is no distal taper. With the coating, it should measure around .220".

The swedge is longer on the BK7 than on the BK9, and the blade is wider, top to bottom, on the BK9.

Hope this vague generalization from behind my computer screen helps.....:p
