Hello fellow knife knuts I have a quick question for anybody that might know about Collectable Zero Tolerance models. I'm doing a deal for a Zero Tolerance 0750 in basically new condition in the box. I realize this is a discontinued model I'm just wondering if it's a popular one among ZT collectors? Any information would be appreciated. Thank you. Trevor

I've got one.

I sought it out because I collect knives of this type but I do not think it is that popular because people don't understand its purpose and how it is supposed to be used or, if they do understand those things, don't care to own a knife that is designed to do what it can do.

Basically, the 0750 (like the Kershaw Talon 1420) is a fighting knife that is designed to be held in a reverse grip and to be used for close quarters combat.

It is not a general purpose EDC for use in normal cutting duties which is obvious from the blade shape and orientation. It can, of course, be used to cut things, like paper, rope and such, but this knife is not designed for that. It would be best used to cut an arm/leg or across the belly of an adversary that you are fighting w/hand to hand.

If you want to save some money, there is one for sale for a very reasonable price ($140 w/o a box, I think) on the Exchange right now.

There are also any other number of cheaper hawkbill knives (especially the many made by Spyderco) that can be used in the same way. The only difference is that those knives are manual and do not have the advantage of the assisted flipper mechanism on the 0750) but they are much lighter and thinner than the 0750 to facilitate carry.

On the other hand, if you want to take it up a notch, you could also buy a Spyderco Civilian or Matriarch which, with their lengthy serrated SpydieEdge blades, takes the hawbill design to the extreme and, to make up for the slowness of just using the Spydie hole, you can buy the wave version of the Matriarch, which is the one I have -- in black, of course. LOL! ;)

I have one and love the knife - and it does work well for EDC tasks - the blade tip curves down and is great for precision slicing on cardboard etc, and it can be used as a paring knife well, the grip is very good.

For some reason image tags to my images are not working - you can see pictures of my 750 at the following link -

Liner lock, G10, stainless steel liners, hollow-ground CPM-S30V and 4oz.
I was surprised it was not more popular (maybe it was, I don't see a lot of them for sale).

All in all - a very nice knife.

best

As noted, the 0750 can be used as an EDC.

It's just not designed as such and there are many other knives much better suited for that purpose.

Thanks everyone for the information. It makes sense now that I look at it that it's a knife ment for tactical situations to say the least lol. I was thinking were it's basically NIB and discontinued it might be one that collectors are interested in but if not I won't mind keeping it around if for no other reason then it looks cool as hell lol.

That's my thinking, as well.

I don't ever expect to use the knife to eviscerate anyone but like it because it's different and just looks "cool."

If you are interested in buying something similar, the Spyderco P'kal & Karahawk folders and the Spyderco Reverse fixed blade knife all immediately come to mind.

I own these and many other "fighting" knives.

Thanks for the reply sgt1372 but I'm actually into medium to samll EDC type folders. However the one Spyderco I was thinking of taking a shot on that's a bit out of my lane is The Kapara that one kinda catches my eye for some reason lol.

Is it in demand by collectors? Somewhat. They don’t pop up very often, but, even then, they don’t tend to fetch a particularly notable price or even sell very quickly.

It might actually be the lowest-value discontinued ZT folder, or tied with the 0700.

Sometimes, there's just no explaining why something in particular appeals to you. It just does. The Kapara doesn't appeal to me but, if you like it, I say go for it! :)

OBTW, there's Kapara fanboy thread in the Spyderco subforum that you may find of interest. The title is "Kapara." I'd post a direct link to it but have difficulty doing that on my phone.

I've got one, bough it because I read where a curved blade is good for netting. Works good for cutting plastic bottles open and camo netting. That's basically what I've used it for, not much anything else.

Thanks for the replys everyone. It's looking like The ZT 0750 isn't quite as popular as I thought it might be o_O oh well I got a cool one to add to my collection and maybe someday down the road it will become more sought after. :p Cheers:cool:

Don't know much about it, but I like the look of it. The only thing I don't like about it is the assisted opening.
