Does anyone know if Ontario has changed the steel used in their TAC-1 Apache folding knife?

The Ontario website lists the steel as 154 CM, while some dealers are listing the steel as 440C.

I'm wondering if they decided to change the steel to 154 CM.

Thanks in advance.

Cheers!

I bought one from a major online dealer a couple weeks ago, and I thought it was 440C. No indication on the blade itself. If you're in the market for one, I guess you just have to be sure you're buying the new 154 stock.

I hate it when manufacturers don't stamp the type of steel on their knives.

It be interesting to know if they upgraded the steel to 154 CM do to low initial sales.

I like the look of the knife, sort of a Spyderco pointed leaf shaped blade with Benchmade handle.

I like mine very much. It's surprisingly light (so much so it's a little blade heavy), but a good size. I've seen some reviews that don't like the placement of the lock button -- it could lead to accidental closing. But I don't find that to be a problem with the way my fingers wrap.
